Quick Medical Update

I don't have to much to say, but did want to get out a quick update medically and some prayer requests.

I will start with Maddy Moo. After continuing to complain of pain in her foot, we went to the orthopedic doctor on Thursday. After more X-rays and an exam they determined that she had three fractures in her third, fourth and fifth metatarsal right below the growth plate. She was given a cast in pink with silver sparkles for the next 4 weeks. And then they will repeat x-rays and exam to determine if she needs a cast for longer. She has had several other medical issues crop up this week as well. She is having some increased GI issues as well as some "episodes" that we are trying to determine if are related to her migraines or possibly seizure related. All of this had added to pretty significant anxiety. It has been hard for all of us to reassure her that she is okay repeatedly.

Bruce had his yearly colonoscopy on Friday. They removed one polyp. We should have pathology results back next week and hopefully they will determine that he is still in remission.

Despite everything going on Maddy and Alex have had a blast at Summer Theater. It is so fun to watch them have fun with friends and work hard to pull together a musical on 2 weeks time! We hope some of our local friends will come see the show this coming week. Maddy was not able to horseback ride this week. She is desperately missing her time at the barn and her coaches and horses. She plans to get back to it this week with some accommodations. She is still planning to compete in her upcoming horse show. We will spend this week figuring out how to make that happen with a cast and a broken foot!

We would ask for continued prayers. Specifically for answers to what is going on with Maddy and some relief from her anxiety.

Rough Week

This week has definitely been a week of highs and lows. Maddy has been hard at work preparing for her upcoming big horse show and both kids have been involved in Summer Theater at church and having a ball. However, there have been some pretty low lows as well. Mimi and Pop Pop have made the hard decision to move back to SC which has been really tough emotionally for the kids. And Maddy injured her foot and has been in quite a bit of pain. Initial X-rays did not show a break, but they weren't positive. We thought we were going to have to head to ortho today as she was not able to put any weight on it, but it was a little better today so we are hopeful it is just a severe sprain!

Here are some pictures of our fun...

We can definitely use some prayers over the next few weeks. First and foremost, please pray for Maddy's foot to heal and for her heart as she is having the hardest time with the news about Mimi and PopPop. Please pray for both kids to stay healthy as they prepare for their show. We also ask for prayers as we await results on Bruce's latest scans and good results on his upcoming colonoscopy. Thank you for walking this road with us and supporting us through the joys and trials of life.

Where do the weeks go?

I often sit down to update this blog and wonder where the days and weeks go. We lead such a crazy, busy life (as do most people) and it seems like a week is gone before I even realize it!

For anyone who does not live locally, our heat has been unbearable...even worse than most Texas summers. We have had highs over 100 for as many days in a row as I remember. In the past that would mean just staying indoors. Unfortunately with a horse crazy girl on my hands we are still at the barn most days. We are doing our best to stay well and hydrated, but Maddy has not been feeling 100 percent. The trade off is worth it for her. She loves time with her horses and her coaches more than anything and will suffer through the side effects to be at the barn. She has also had several ear infections. We are keeping a close eye on her as she was not a baby who had a lot of ear infections. Her pediatrician has already told us if she has one more in the next several months we will need to see a specialist.

Alex is doing well. He is still knee deep in forensics classes. He can't get enough. He is currently enrolled in 3. We are also working on his medical independence and pulling together all of our info for him to be prepared to apply to college in a month! We are so excited for this next step for him.

The kids are both starting Summer Music Theater next week. This will be Alex's 7th and last year and he convinced Maddy to join him for her first eligible year. I swear her brother can get her to do anything. Being on stage is Maddy's very worst nightmare! It will be fun  for them to have this experience together!

As for Bruce and I, Bruce is in the middle of all of his six month scans to make sure his cancer is still in remission. He also has another colonoscopy coming up at the end of the month. I am busy with the kids schedules as well as still recovering from my knee surgery. I have had some complications that have left me with some pain that my doctor is hoping will improve over time. I have also joined a Caregivers class at the barn. It has been so fun, but horseback riding is not nearly easy as my pint sized child makes it look!!!

I think that is all...please pray for Maddy to feel better, for Bruce to have clear scans, for my knee pain to improve. We also ask for prayers for my peace especially regarding financial issues. Thank you for walking this journey with us.

The Barn is our home!

More and more we find our days revolving around the bard and horses! For Maddy and I, it is our happy place, our therapy, a large part of our social life. It fills our soul in so many ways.

After the crazy, amazing chaos of last week at VBS, this week was much quieter and just back to our "usual" crazy of horseback riding! I don't have much to update as life has been pretty "normal" around here so I will just share some fun pictures!

Hartie's 2nd Birthday!

VBS: Mad enjoyed a week with her brother and best friends!

We did squeeze in an ice cream date with our beloved Mrs. Mitchell!

And of course lots of time at the barn including a visit from Kasey!

We ask for prayers for continued health and rest for me!
