We had Mimi visiting for the past ten days. The good news is we had such a fun visit. The bad news is I barely took any pictures. Oops! The kids were really not sad that I was having too much fun to insist on pictures!
The first few days with Mimi were a bit crazy as we had doctors appointments, haircuts, lessons, and we squeezed in a girls trip to Granbury to do a little shopping. But the last little bit was much slower and we were able to have lots of time hanging on the couch, cooking, and just enjoying conversations and down time. We are grateful that we will get to see her again this spring and for our annual beach trip at the beginning of summer. We sure do miss the days when she lived only a few miles away!
While Mimi was here, Maddy had her first horse show of the year as well as her first show with Newman. Mimi had purposely picked this time so she could see maddy show as it has been years since she has watched her compete in a horse show. Maddy and Newman had an amazing show and placed in the top five in four out of their five classes. (Showmanship- 1st, Horsemanship- 4th, Trail- 1st, Equitation- 3rd) One day shows are extremely hard on Maddy physically, but I was incredibly proud of her for pushing through. It is also so amazing to have a barn family that we love and that love and encourage her!

With Mimi back in Florida, we turned our attention back to school and the start of the year. Alex starts classes tomorrow and Maddy and I will also get back into the groove of school. The kids have really enjoyed the break and I love watching them spending time together, laughing, and loving each other. There were lots of late night movies, giggles, games, and discussing all things. Their relationship is truly special and I love the way they love and support each other. They really are best friends in every sense.
We are so thankful for our village who walk this journey with us. From teachers and coaches who always work with us to ensure my kids are happy and well, to our friends and family who laugh with us and cry with us, and especially to our prayer warriors who pray without ceasing. My sweet girl can still use all the prayers as she is really struggling physically which takes a toll emotionally. And also prayers for Alex's continued stable health. And for me to know the best way to guide and lead them. This life is hard some days, but we will always be kind and we will always CHOOSE JOY and so our home is filled with laughter and love always.
