Short Update

I will keep this update shorted than usual because my computer is not working and in need of repair. Typing a blog update on an iPad is less than ideal! And sometimes adding pictures is even trickier.

This last several weeks had been insanely busy, Filled with mostly fun! Alex just completed his fifth year participating in Summer Theater Workshop. He always enjoys himself and that was no different this year. The kids form incredible bonds and the church goes out of their way to ensure Alex can participate even when he needs to miss rehearsals.

Maddy has continued with her crazy horseback riding schedule and swim lessons as well as finishing the summer workbook she was assigned. She is getting really excited to attend Trinity Prep in a few weeks. But first her Horse Show. She has been hard at work preparing.

We were able to celebrate Mimi’s 70th birthday and shower her with extra love for a day. WE had tons planned, but quickly realized we bit off more than we could chew so we took a rain check on some of the fun!

For the first time in a long time, I made a little time for myself this week as well. I had lunch with two friend this week. One is the director of Hopekids for our area and we met and chatted and planned for our upcoming big trip to Montana! And the other was a friend I have known virtually for many years, but never met in person until now. We chatted for 3 hours! It is so nice to connect with another mom who shares similar challenges. Maddy moo and I both also got haircuts!

We have had a few doctors appointments…Pulmonology and Endocrine for Alex and ophthalmology for Maddy. Foe Alex everything is status quo which I will gladly take. Maddy has been having multiple severe headaches every day for weeks. We wanted to check her eyes again( Her last appointment was only 6 months again) before starting to do more testing. The doctor did find she needed glasses, but her is not sure the prescription is enough to be causing her headaches so we will see once we get her glasses. As a side note…shopping for glasses with a stubborn, opinionated fashion conscious 7 year old is not for the faint of heart. I tried picking out some super cute glasses for her as was told repeatedly, “that’s really not my fashion mom!”

I do have a few prayer requests for this week…For all of us to stay healthy as we have our two trips in the next few weeks. For the oncologist to not feel it is necessary for Bruce to do more treatment at this point, for Maddy’s headaches to subside with her glasses and for me to find some rest in this crazy, busy time. Oh and for my computer to be fixed and not be too expensive! There is a lot of planning and organization that goes into running my house and keeping the kids healthy and not having a functioning computer is not easy!

Thank you for your love and prayers.

Ali
